Metallic Wood-boring Beetle #1 - Acmaeodera convicta

Metallic Wood-boring Beetle #1 - Acmaeodera convicta
San Pedro Riverbed, SE of San Manuel, Pinal County, Arizona, USA
September 15, 2012
Another metallic wood-boring beetle (I'm finding most of them thanks to the great pages here on BG). This one appears similar to Acmaeodera alicia, but anterior yellow bar is different, also similar to Acmaeodera tuta. Any ideas? Thanks for all of your help.

not alicia...
does look like tuta in the guide but I am not familiar with that species.

Acmaeodera alicia vs. A. tuta
My first thought was as yours, possibly A. tuta; however, as soon as I saw the locality and date that thought evaporated. That this specimen gives that impression is due to the angle at which the image was shot. This phenomenon causes not an insignificant amount of difficulty with identification.

whatever the case may be, this is one cool bup
