American Dagger Moth - Acronicta americana

American Dagger Moth - Acronicta americana
Kingston, Ontario, Canada
August 6, 2006
Size: less than 1 cm
Found this guy eating maple this past July. American Dagger Moth, Acronicta americana (pg 324 Wagner). More pics will be up soon, as I have been raising this specimen.

Size?
All these images currently say "less than 1 cm" which seems unlikely for a full-grown caterpillar, perhaps it's true for the first one. Please remove it from images to which it doesn't apply. As always, more accurate information would add value to this series. I see the last three images are all dated August 6 - did it change from white to yellow as well as forming its pupa on that day?

I like the shot where it shed its hair and revealed green skin - very interesting.

Corrections
I corrected the dates and sizes of the specimens in the pics. Enjoy!

Thanks
- now it's a very nice series!
