Classification
Kingdom Animalia (Animals)
Phylum Arthropoda (Arthropods)
Subphylum Hexapoda (Hexapods)
Class Insecta (Insects)
Order Coleoptera (Beetles)
Suborder Adephaga
Family Carabidae (Ground Beetles)
Subfamily Trechinae
Tribe Bembidiini
Subtribe Anillina
Explanation of Names
Anillina Jeannel 1937
Numbers
5 described genera in our area:
Anillodes Jeannel. 3 described spp, CA
Anillinus Casey. 66 described spp, eastern US west to TX, OK.
Anillaspis Casey. Two decribed spp, caves in the Sierra Nevada, CA, both apparently known only from their female holotypes.
Medusapyga LaBonte and Maddison. Two described species from OR and WA(1).
Serranillus Barr. Four described species, southern Appalachians.

An undescribed genus known from caves in California includes the largest anilline in the world(2).
Size
Most are 2mm or less. By far the largest anilline in the world is an undescribed species in an undescribed genus known from a cave in California (2)
Remarks
Molecular phylogenetics support treating this group as a tribe of its own that is sister to (Sinozolini + (Zolini + Bembidiini)) + (Pogonini + Tachyini).(3)
