Mouth of Rock Creek on Columbia River, Klickitat County, Washington, USA

Size: 1/2 inch
This appears to be a velvety ant (wasp) but has no hairs evident.

ID'd this ant
I have determined that this ant is a Camponotus Semitestaceus queen through Washington State University.

Thank you all for you input!
Dan

This may be C. ocreatus, but this species is so far only recorded form considerably farther south.
