Minute Brown Scavenger Beetle - Cortinicara gibbosa
Edmundston, Madawaska County, New Brunswick, Canada
June 9, 2012
Size: 1,2mm
This is not a good photo, but the tiny size (1,2mm) and the form of the pronotum could be good indication for id.

Moved tentatively; thanks, Chris.
Moved from Corticariinae.

Cortinicara gibbosa (Herbst) ?
Species of the Corticariinae are difficult (frequently impossible) to distinguish in photographs, but the transverse basal impression on the pronotum indicates that this specimen is either in the genus Cortinicara or Melanophthalma (s. str.). The small size and dark colouration means that this is very probably Cortinicara gibbosa (Herbst).
