Assassin Bug - Pselliopus cinctus

Assassin Bug - Pselliopus cinctus
Durham County, North Carolina, USA
June 20, 2004
On Queen Anne's Lace. This individual seems less bright orange than others I've seen, similar to images Richard Leung just posted. The two species in this area are supposed to be P. cinctus and P. barberi. I've not seen a key to differentiate them, but perhaps this is P. cinctus--I've seen P. barberi illustrated as very orange.
