Torymid from Virginia creeper petiole gall - Torymus - female

Torymid from Virginia creeper petiole gall - Torymus - Female
River Road, Deerfield, Franklin County, Massachusetts, USA
May 23, 2012
Size: 2.5 mm
Emerged mid-May 2012 from a gall collected 12/20/2011. I don't believe there is an insect known to cause swellings on Virginia creeper petioles, but I presume the host was a Neolasioptera species. There was a hole chewed in the bag that contained the gall, so this may not have been the only wasp that emerged, but there was a single exit hole in the gall.
