tan-shouldered carabid - Lebia scapula

tan-shouldered carabid - Lebia scapula
Organ Mountains foothills, Dona Ana County, New Mexico, USA
August 6, 2006
Size: about 5 mm
These four were among many small, colorful ground beetles to come to my UV lights. Due to my having collected in one container so many carabids that were armed with defensive chemicals, a great many of them were apparently gassed to death. This made them far more cooperative but far less natural looking :-(

Specimens were given to New Mexico State University in Las Cruces.

Thank you, Belov.
Made a folder for it in my personal taxonomic files. Unfortunately the actual images are on a couple of external hard drives packed away in my shipping container.
