looks like something in the genus Psorophora, but i can not say i know which species.

It might be
a Psorphora, but the common name you list is for the genus Toxorhynchites not Psorophora. It is pretty hard to tell from this angle, but Sean, our number one mosquito man may know. Such a pretty picture

thank you for the information Omar, and sorry about the name, as i thought elephant mosquito worked for either genus... now i know.

It looks like a Psorophora, perhaps a male howardii.
Do you have any dorsal shots?

Yep, the proboscis would still be yellow in a male ciliata. The reason the legs don't look iridescent is due to the angle of the light.

i may have some dorsal shots if you would like them, unless you feel confident about calling it P. howardii... in either case i could still try to find a good dorsal shot.
