Crab Spider 1 - Misumenops - female

Crab Spider 1 - Misumenops - Female
Gloster, Gloster Arboretum, Amite County, Mississippi, USA
May 12, 2006
Size: body length 5.9 mm.
Found on magnolia blossom. We believe this is in the genus misumenops with some reservations. A diagnostic feature, "lateral eyes on each side situated on completely conjoined tubercles", is not clearly evident on any of our images. If possible, confirmation/correction would be appreciated.

The posterior lateral eyes
are difficult to see because they are pointing backward, but it certainly looks to us to have a lateral tubercle which contains both the PLE and the ALE. Besides, the easy part is that it's hairy, therefore = Misumenops. Unfortunately, we haven't had a Misumenops expert visit yet, so almost none on BugGuide are ID'd to species, and even those that are have been questioned.

Spider ID
Images have been moved to the genus page. Thanks for your help. It was your fine key to the three Misumens that encouraged us to try our hand at IDs.
