Acmaeodera from CA - Acmaeodera retifera

Acmaeodera from CA - Acmaeodera retifera
Mount Diablo State Park, Contra Costa County, California, USA
April 1, 2011
Feeding on an aster of some kind. Judging by other pics on BugGuide I was thinking this was Acmaeodera retifera, but I'm not sure how diagnostic the spot pattern is. Thoughts?

Identification
Good call. The spot patterns (maculation) is all over the map on this one. Depending on locality, sometimes I won't put a positive ID on specimens as images.

thanks for the ID
The maculation definitely seems variable based on the BG pics. Are there other traits you look for to identify this species?
