Ctenucha - Ctenucha venosa

Ctenucha - Ctenucha venosa
Kitt Peak, Pima County, Arizona, USA
August 31, 2006
Size: 15-20mm
Ctenucha I think. Went to Moths of SE AZ and there are 2 species that look almost alike: venosa and cressonana. Wonder if there is any way to tell this one from a pic? Neither are in the guide, nor is one that looks like this.

I'd Call it 8260 - Veined Ctenucha Moth - Ctenucha venosa...
... based on the intrusion of ground color into the fringe of outer margin. I can't find an example of that in C. cressonana. But then, my sample size is very small. Pretty photo!

Great -
Thanks Bob. They really are beautiful moths. I was very much captivated by the two that were nectaring. The first Ctenucha I've seen.
