KS Bug #5 - Blissus leucopterus
Great Plains Nature Center, Sedgwick County, Kansas, USA
August 28, 2006
Will frass after ID, assuming one's already logged for Kansas.

opinion of Merrill Sweet:
"extremely likely to be B. leucopterus"

Moved from Chinch Bugs.

Thanks once again =v=
...

Chinch bug.
This is the infamous "chinch bug," once in the Lygaeidae family, not sure if the genus got split out in the revised classification. Not sure I'd frass this, either, as it clearly reflects (literally!) the typical color pattern for this little pest.

Thanks for the ID, Eric.
I'll keep the photo, tho it does a better job on my daughter's blouse than the intended subject. (I do try to dress her to provide a nice background.)

BTW, excellent call on keeping it; we don't have much yet.
