Western Conifer Seed Bug - Leptoglossus occidentalis

Western Conifer Seed Bug - Leptoglossus occidentalis
Gloucester, Essex County, Massachusetts, USA
February 17, 2013
What is the white thing on the bug's head?

Moved
Moved from ID Request.

Ordinarily, I'd guess a Tachinid egg...
...but I don't imagine that there are a lot of Tachinids buzzing around MA in February, so I'm not sure.

But maybe it is
because the photo was taken indoors.

Possibly...
I just don't think of tachinids as being active in the winter. Maybe a fly specialist will chime in and educate us both.
