Praying Mantis - at the beach! - Mantis religiosa

There are lots of images of parying mantis' - but I've never seen one at the beach before! This was taken at Race Point in Cape Cod. Anyone know what species this is? You can see him perched atop my truck with the ocean in the background. Is is unusual to find them at the beach? This one was flying from truck to truck up the beach.
