Excellent
That's a great photo. How did you get in so close?

Getting close to paper wasps
I noticed that some paper wasps, especially during late summer, would cling to a plant or flower and just sit there, sometimes chasing away other insects that wandered too close. When I approached these paper wasps, they would turn to stare at me, but would otherwise stay relatively still. By moving in slowly, I was able to get pretty close to them without scaring them away.

Male, too:-)
Helps to get close when you know the critter can't sting you. Hahaha! Very nice work, Richard. Could probably use this for the field guide to contrast with the face of a female (more triangular, dark, with shorter antennae).
