Palo Verde Root Borer - Derobrachus hovorei
Dripping Springs Nature Area, Dona Ana County, New Mexico, USA
Size: about 57 mm
I should have waited for the beetle to warm up before shooting this view. It was a warm, humid day (rainy season only), and the air moisture beaded up on the beetle just like it was a glass of iced tea.
