Slender wasp - Myzinum - male

Slender wasp - Myzinum - Male
Gainesville, Florida, USA
September 27, 2004
The Spotted Horsemint (Monarda punctata) plant was crawling with these, very rapidly moving so I had a hard time getting a good shot. The closest I could find was Troy's Myzinum (below) - what do you think?

I think you got it
Eric will probably confirm, but I believe the hook at the end of the abdomen is distinctive and also makes this a male.

I agree
Females should be present as well. They are similarly marked, but far more robust, with shorter antennae, and no hook on the back end.
