Unknown Caterpillar - Eudryas grata

Unknown Caterpillar - Eudryas grata
Charlestown, Washington County, Rhode Island, USA
September 4, 2006
Size: 1 - 1.5"
Would someone kindly help me with the ID of this beautiful caterpillar?

Thank you,

Michelle St.Sauveur

Orange thoracic shield
no long setae and orange stripes on all body segments makes this look like Eudryas grata, one of the wood nymphs. Images in the guide here. Wagner page 383. Nice find! and nice image!

Similar to Beautiful Wood Nymph
A little darker red, but it appears to be on grape leaf which is one of their food plants.

Thanks!
Yes, it was on a Grape Leaf and thank you for taking the time to help me with this ID.

Regards,

Michelle
