Oblique Looper Moth - Hodges #6577
Moved from Iridopsis sancta.

Iridopsis obliquaria…
The range of this species includes southern Nevada where this was imaged. I. sancta does not extend into Nevada. Compare patterns with MPG images, and you will see the differences.

See reference here.

Boy, they are close ...
Ross,
I superimposed in PhotoShop to just to be certain. You're right, the PM on I. obliquaria seems slightly more sinuous than I. santa. Otherwise, everything else seems identical, even the ranges are close. Apparently, only the ranges separate. I'll update the guide pages to include See Also, as well as correct broken links. Thanks for watching my back.
Robert

What is the PM?
Sorry, I am new to the world of Geometrid Moth identification - could someone please help me with a couple insights as to the differences between these two species? I have looked at MPG images, but am still unsure as to how to tell them apart. Thanks so much, I appreciate your time with this.

Jeanne

PM is postmedial line
See Glossary of Moth Anatomy. I don't a significant physical difference between these two species. The biggest difference is in the range.
