My conclusion is that this speciman is a Handsome Meadow Katydid - Orchelimum pulchellum. Confirmation or comments desired.

Yes
I would completly agree. I have never had the chance to see one of these amazing insects. On the west side of the Appalachians they are replaced by Black-legged.
