Omaliinae, which tribe, species? - Phlaeopterus

Omaliinae, which tribe, species? - Phlaeopterus
Big Cottonwood Canyon, Salt Lake County, Utah, USA
July 22, 2006
Size: ~7mm
There were a few of these on a sand mud shore of the Big Cottonwood Creek. I had thought this was a carabid for a long time.

Moved
Moved from Ocellate Rove Beetles. Some Phlaeopterus are, indeed, very carabid-like. The ones that occur on high-elevation snowfields are often collected along with Ne*bria.

Cool beetles,
and thanks again for the ID.
