Giant House Spider feeding 2 - Tegenaria gigantea

Giant House Spider feeding 2 - Tegenaria gigantea
Linn County, Oregon, USA
August 26, 2006
Size: About 3 inches
This is a shot of the spider feeding on a daddy long legs, which gives a better feel for its size. It was a fairly large daddy long legs, but this spider towers over it. The daddy long legs only lasted a few seconds as this one was on him like lightning. (And no, I don't pit spiders against each other for fun. This was purely a matter of needing something to feed to this guy.) We probably have hundreds of these daddy long legs building webs all over our warehouse and they've become quite the pests. I still feel a little guilty about feeding them to this big bruiser though.
