Orchid Bee nest. (Occupied by single female only.) - Female
Killeen, Bell County, Texas, USA
March 23, 2013
Size: 4.25x1.75 in
A female Green Orchid Bee had been making plugs for an old mud dauber's nest outside my front door for a while before she flew into my apt and got a little over-heated buzzing around one of my lamps. I put her on a paper plate with distilled water and honey to give her some re-cupe. She didn't like it. Searching for her online to find out what she would eat, I found this wonderful site and found out that thier nests are fairly rare...? Thot I'd share this with everyone. She seems to be feeling better now, and I named her Lindsay. It's random, I know, but that's how we roll around here in Central Texas.

surely not an orchid bee
Osmia?

Safe to say Megachilidae, at least?
Or are there other options I'm not thinking of?
