Correct - a female Gray Bird Grasshopper
Closely related to the "American Bird Grasshopper" - Schistocerca americana.

They often live through the winter as adults, and especially tend to get noticed in winter and early spring when there are few other large insects around. They also get noticed when hundreds come to lights, often in the late summer or autumn.
