Winter insects ?
These have invaded our outdoor porch. Pierre's pictures are exactly what we see. What is there to do ? To get rid of them ??

They will vanish
As far as I know the midges that appear around the end of winter have only one generation per year. They fly for a few days, mate, and lay eggs in nearby water or wet soil where larvae will develop until next spring. Adults do not eat (they may drink) and do not live long.

Many Chironomidae are attracted to light.
