Beetle - Synstrophus repandus

Beetle - Synstrophus repandus
Wilderness State Park, Emmet County, Michigan, USA
September 3, 2006
Size: ~8mm
Feeding on oak

not 100%, but i'll take my chances with this call
Moved from Eustrophopsis.

Tetratomidae >> Eustrophopsis
I changed my mind. This genus used to be included under Melandryidae but they have now been lumped with the Tetratomidae. It bears close resemblance to this species except for the color of the antennae. This may well be another species in that genus.

from Darren A. Pollock:
"Eustrophopsis (if tibiae grooved) or Synstrophus repandus (if tibiae smooth)"

Tom--
do you happen to have this one in a larger original version? any other angles? 'cuz either way it's an uncommon one (not bicolor) and it would be nice to have it IDed. even the pix you didn't like may help

Larger photo uploaded....only
Larger photo uploaded....only angle I have

Melandryidae
is my guess.

Thanks Jim...that is the best
Thanks Jim...that is the best start I have heard yet! Maybe someone else can give it the double confirm.
