tiny wasp - Ganaspis

tiny wasp - Ganaspis
Boxborough, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, USA
September 7, 2006
Size: 1.5mm
Found on a mushroom.

Moved
Moved from Figitidae.

Figitidae
Now I don't know if this should stay at family level, be moved to subfamily Eucoilinae, or to genus Ganaspis, either of which would need to be added to the guide.

Figitidae
Tom, shouldn't this be under Figitidae, not Cynipidae (based on Matt's comments below)?

Moved
Moved from Diapriidae.

Thanks Don. I'll leave it in the family page for now, and some day I might get a photo that shows the wing veins better.

Diapriidae: Belytinae
It is a diapriid, and can't see the wings clear enough to be absolutely sure, but it looks to be a Belytine.

not a diapriid
Definitely not a diapriid, but rather a eucoiline of some sort (I can see enough of the venation to tell, and the antenna/metasoma aren't right). If it was on a mushroom it might be the family Figitidae, which are primarily fly parasitoids.

definitely a eucoiline
Looks to me like Ganaspis (classic antennae). There several species associated with Diptera in mushrooms.
