This is a male crane fly
of Pedicia autumnalis , here is some more info for other related species . Nice clear images for this new species for the Bugguide, and have moved to its new page. - Chen

Chen, thanks for the new page and the id. I'll be in northern NH tomorrow, and if the weather is good enough, I'll look for more crane flies.
