Varied Carpet Beetle Larvae and Frass in trap after feeding

Varied Carpet Beetle Larvae and Frass in trap after feeding
Winterthur, New Castle County, Delaware, USA
December 14, 2010
Size: <1/8"
This images illustrates the feeding habits of the what looks to be Varied Carpet Beetle Larvae (Anthrenus verbasci). The image clearly shows two larvae and frass from their feeding on a cricket carcass caught in a sticky (pest) trap. After amerging from the cricket, they too found themselves stuck in the trap. Fine by me, considering it is in our museum! :)
