came to light; similar to Yellow Three-Spot (
compare images
at CBIF) but the flight season of that species is ending, and the Bicolored Sallow's is just beginning

Hi Robin
A few years ago we discovered the supposedly western species
S. verberata
in southern NB. Almost identical to
bicolorago
except for hind wing pattern. It it so easy to assume that every specimen in
bicolorago
unless one is aware that
verberata
may also be present. Just because
verberata
is not listed from Ont. don't dismiss its presence.

Do you know whether there's also a form of
verberata
similar to the one in
bicolorago
whose forewing outer half is dark purplish/grayish? I've seen only one of those so far, among the many that have visited in Sep/Oct the past two years.

from NB.
