Thanks, =v=
.

any time, Ron
i'm getting so frustrated by the total lack of expert help in this section... need a good push in the right direction -- generic names for a couple of dozen submissions, and the rest will more or less snap into places, including Frass )))))
i suspect we may have 2-3 additional genera among our unsorted inventory

miracles happen, however -- the psyllid section, derelict and orphaned until very recently, is now one of the best-curated, thanks to Chris Mallory's dedication and hard work
we've seen it happen in some other BG departments, too

melyrids, anybody?

I'd have shot a lot more of these if I'd guessed they'd be IDed.
It's really gratifying to see old posts come alive, and you're great at making that happen across many species.

After the normal start-up route of shooting butterflies then dragonflies, I quickly began concentrating on flies. It was hard to get IDs on them, and I almost gave up. Then I discovered syrphids and found that a lot of them were easy to ID. Next, with John Ascher literally in the wings, I discovered bee IDs were prompt and easily obtained. As a result, I focused on these two groups.

I got into beetles after observing Jim McClarin's work and parcipating in a fun, informal contest he started. However, I soon tired of shooting rather anonymous melyrids. You helped me refocus on beetles a bit, but the trail had grown cold at that point and I was phasing out of bug shooting.

Chris Mallory is a major asset at BG and, on a broader biological front, in Southern California generally.

Good to hear from you, Ron
How goes it?

Thanks for asking, but not so well, CB
Will email, hopefully soon.
RR

That's a fact ...

Yeah, I know I ripped off Croce.
And you don't mess around with Jim!

dasytine... suspecting Eschatocrepis constrictus here
but with these guys in Cali, you simply never know.
very diverse and poorly understood group in your area.
let's keep the pic... but tell your nondescript pet to shut his gueule up.

They...they keep speaking to me. (Or singing in this case.)
To secure silence, I will threaten by waving a can of Raid.

Just realize that I inadvertenly ripped off Gary Larson:

you and Garry are good...
here's one for you.
good times.

Never heard that one, but...
...I can relate to the aging banana.
