Nice one!
Moved from Rove Beetles. New genus for bugguide! I need to compare specimens to see if this is the described species (which has two names) or one of the new ones. This may not have been formally moved to Acruliopsis (from Acru*lia) but that's where it should be; the genus was described from eastern Asia. Beaten from foliage is odd - they're usually collected in litter.

Thanks Margaret
The collection date probably coincided with the beetle's flight period which was why I was able to easily get a short series from understorey vegetation. I have previously collected some pselaphines (Oropus sp.) this way. The specimen does not appear to have ocelli- I've checked under the scope and couldn't find them so I wasn't sure which subfamily to place it.

interesting biological information!
The ocelli in this species (it is one of the new ones) are not as pale as in some, so they're harder to see. Try looking at the head in profile - you should be able to see them as little bumps. I think I can just make them out in your more detailed shot. I'll make note of the data so that if/when I eventually describe this species I can borrow the specimens to study. The only BC specimens I've seen are from Massett in the Queen Charlotte Islands.
