Red-Legged Spider - Neoscona domiciliorum

Red-Legged Spider - Neoscona domiciliorum
Herndon, Fairfax County, Virginia, USA
September 9, 2006
I spotted this large-ish spider hanging out in the middle of its web, but as soon as it saw me, it headed rapidly upward to then hide beneath a leaf. I didn't notice the red legs until I got it on the computer monitor - wow! And the shading of the cross pattern on its back appears amazingly three dimensional. What is it?

Hooray
thanks for the updated ID! =)

I'm not 100% sure,
but check out Neoscona domiciliorum. Others in the genus are also similar.

That
would be my guess, too.
