Size: 18 mm
There was a colony of these, very active, in a flat pebble-filled area along a trail. They were very active, seldom landing. This shot is the best one I have that shows any wing venation, I beleive. I presume it is a female, due to the load of pollen. Size estimated. Thanks for help on ID.

Incidentally, hovering nearby this aggregation of bees were a few of these large bee flies, Heterostylum robustum, likely parasites of the Halictids:
