Dipoena - Dipoena washougalia - female

Dipoena - Dipoena washougalia - Female
Cowichan Valley, British Columbia, Canada
May 8, 2013
Size: ~2.5mm body length
Found on the floor of one of our sheds amongst bits of hay and other debris. I'm thinking Dipoena lana (same as D. washougalia, see comments on 711548) based on the figures and description in Levi 1953. I'll check with Rod for confirmation.

Egg sac/spiderling
Added a couple of images of an egg sac this spider produced. The spiderlings came out yesterday, here's one of them:

ID confirmed by Rod Crawford
"Yes, it is evidently D. lana. This species may be getting more common in the northern parts of its range; at least I'm finding it more often, whereas I barely found it at all before about 1990..."

I've chosen to move these here to keep the male and female together, on the basis of the info Rod provided (711548) about the synonymy of lana and washougalia. Since the info isn't in the WSC (or even published), if people think it would be better practice to keep these separate for now, I'll make the appropriate changes.

Moved from Spiders.
