The first I've seen. Hope to get better photos the second time around. Starting to see a lot of syrphids, but fewer bee flys now and no robbers.

Yeah get some more pics of this genus... we only have one other pic on the guide and this is one of my favorite genera here in the US...The color pattern on the wing is also important for the species identification...

 
Good to know that about the wings.
So, if I get a shot where only the wing is in sharp focus, it's a treasure! It is a very attractive insect, and I hope to see it again. (Just checked and the other photo is mine. N, we'll meet again!)
