Huge Bug in my Living room! - Mastigoproctus

Huge Bug in my Living room! - Mastigoproctus
Cliff, Grant County, New Mexico, USA
September 12, 2006
Size: aprox. 3 inches
I want to know about this bug, it's the second one I have had in my house since our rainy season started. Is it poisonous? What is it.. it looks like a beetle or a scorpion. It seems to be able to move quickly but didn't try to pinch a small stick we put near it.

A Whipscorpion (Thelyphonidae, order Uropygi, Arachnida)
Probably genus Mastigoproctus, the so-called "Vinegarones" due to the special scent they emit when alarmed. Seldom encountered as they are mainly nocturnal. Not venomous unlike Scorpions, although the modified pedipalpi can inflict a painful pinch because of their mere size.
