I respect the judgment of three experts, but I am not convinced. As commented before, the extensive speckling bothers me – isn’t it like what one sees on Jeff Hollenbeck’s S. compensata on MPG? And then, I detect traces of smudge on my moth: actually, various amounts of black at the pm lines can be seen on images of both species. Finally, the size: I located on our wall the place where the moth had rested (really!) and, measuring distances between paint cracks in the moths background, I came up with 20+/-1 mm wing span (evidence can be provided). That’s quite different from the 25-30 mm wing span given on the S. limboundata guide page. In fact, whenever sizes are provided with posted images, they range from 20-25mm for compensata and 25-32 mm for limboundata.

How about #7152 Scopula compensata as another possibility? Images of S. limboundata suggest that its wings are far less speckled than those of my moth. Unfortunately, it is one of the rare cases when I did not record size.

I'd have to go with BP on this one. As fresh and well-marked as this specimen, were it Scopula compensata, it would have the tell-tale sub-terminal smudges.
