Amorpha juglandis - male

Amorpha juglandis - Male
Canyon Lake, Comal County, Texas, USA

At first look I thought the moth was injured, upon closed examination, I realized he was created this way. Any thoughts as to the identification? THANKS!

It's a sphinx moth
and after browsing the ones in the guide I think perhaps it's Amorpha juglandis. Wait for a second opinion on that, though.
