Size: Approx. 1/2 inch
No breeze, about 90 degrees, sunny. Feeding in Bidens alba.
Beautiful, feathery antennae. I'm hoping it is this mosquito.

It is a Toxorhynchites, but speciosus is an Australian species. This would be Toxorhynchites rutilis.

I have yet to see an adult of one of these in the wild.

Thank you, Sean. I couldn't find another picture on the internet except those from Australia, and they looked so close. This one had the habit of holding one or the other rear leg up in the air. There was also another small bee-like insect buzzing around the flowers and may have been protective behavior.

Maybe you should get a tighter crop of this or another. That way the features of the mosquito will show up better.
