That's a better guess, I think
Even lighter variations of
tessellata
(such as the ones I linked to earlier) have some amount of black between the reniform and orbicular spots - which is lacking in
detersa
and this photo.
I may have paid too much attention to the pale tuft of hairs at the base of the wing (better seen in
this photo
) - which Covell says is a feature of
tessellata
- but perhaps other species have it too.

Euxoa tessellata
, like the one shown at
CBIF
and at the bottom of
this MPG page
