not western
. . . but not because of white rings (type also has them), but the spots not clearly in anteriour half of pronotum.

If by western eyed click beetle
you mean Alaus melanops, we think not, since we don't think that has white around the eye spots on the pronotum, although the one image we have in BugGuide seems to have some. But we understand that the western form of the Small-eyed Click Beetle, A. myops, is a darker creature with white around the eyespots, so we're thinking that's what you have here. Unfortunately, Nearctica lists nine species in the genus Alaus, so there are a half dozen species we know nothing about and consequently we could be completely wrong!
