Leptogaster - female

Leptogaster - Female
Silver Lake, Leon County, Florida, USA
May 18, 2013
The abdomen is darker than I've seen on this species before. I wonder if they darken with age.

edit: Revised to Leptogaster. Likely L. obscuripennis or L. obscuripes.

Leptogaster, not Tipulogaster
I recently commented on the iNat version of this pic, but figure I should go here, too. This actually looks like one of the Leptogaster species that also has the polished scutum look (there are a few in the US) instead of Tipulogaster. The stylus looks too long and the postpedicel (first flagellomere) too short to be Tipulogaster, plus the dark leg bands on the hind femur are in the wrong spots. And that helps explain your dark abdomen. ;-) Thanks for the lovely pictures, as always!
