Hoverfly - Meromacrus acutus
Parkwood, Durham County, North Carolina, USA

On Frostweed, Verbesina virginica.

This is clearly the same species as the individual I captured and posed at exactly the same location (my yard) on virtually the same date (9/15/00) four years earlier:



This would appear to be Meromacrus acuta--see comments under image below, and in guide page.
