Culex pipiens - male

Culex pipiens - Male
Pasadena, Anne Arundel County, Maryland, USA
May 29, 2013
I know this isn't exciting, but hoping to just calibrate before trying to ID anything else. Is the banded abdomen and lack of markings on the thorax (and/or other features show here) enough to confirm C. pipiens? Thanks in advance!

Male midge
This is a non-biting midge, not a mosquito. It is probably related to Chironomus decorus.

Wow...
So much to learn... Thanks!
