Chrysomya??? - Chrysomya megacephala - Male
Plantation, Fort Lauderdale County, Florida, USA

Couldn't really find much else that was similar. I have some undershots of this particular fly, I have to resize and process them first.

Thanks,

Charles

Chrysomya megacephala, male

Looks like Chrysomya megaceph
Looks like Chrysomya megacephalia. Definately of the genus Chrysomya.

Thanks for commenting, Lucas
We need more fly experts! Also, I'm glad to see you working on an image-based key, as we need more of that, too.

That'd be my thought, but I'm no expert.
I'm waiting for ID on a post of mine on what seems to be the same fly, shot last week. It's always surprising to me that a given insect pops up in geographically diverse locations at about the same time. (I'm in California.)

Nice, clear, shot BTW. The blue stripes beneath the wings are really neat.

Thanks Ron..
Maybe its just their timing, but I have to say I see these things on the same stick at the end of my acre year round.. I wonder if it might even be the same flies.. they are probably 100 years old by now! LOL
