Little bugs - Niesthrea sidae - male - female

Little bugs - Niesthrea sidae - Male Female
Gainesville, Alachua County, Florida, USA
September 17, 2006
Size: ~5 mm
This replaces an earlier image of these bugs that was not identified. This is a bit clearer - can someone get this to family for me, at least?

These are plentiful on a Sida plant on my walking route.

Moved
Moved from Niesthrea. For reasons compare genus and species info page.

New theory:
this may be Niesthrea sidae - see my comment on

I'm moving these to Niesthrea until someone can come up with more info on this genus.

Wow!
These are really small and colorful.

I can't believe they haven't been identified yet and you know I'm probably not much help either, but I'll search some tomorrow and see what I can come up with.

If you have time, would you mind giving your opinion on this. I added a comment to it tonight.

Try this...
It's the closest I could see...starting in Leaf footed bugs-Coreidae since that was my first assumption. :)
Merocoris ...What do you think?

I'm going to try to insert a thumbnail. [thumb:#51137]

Well, that's not working, I guess the citation I found is obsolete. :(

try again without the # sign and you'll have it right. : )

I looked through all the hemiptera already in the guide and I don't think this species is there. Merocoris has very distinctive hind legs which mine lack. Thanks for the suggestion, though - more than I've got from anyone else so far!
