Requesting pupa ID
Royalston, Worcester County, Massachusetts, USA
May 1, 2013
This pupa was found while splitting a red oak (Quercus rubra) log. I believe it resembles a sawyer beetle? I am writing a magazine article on invertebrates inhabiting logs, and would very much appreciate an ID. Thank you!

Moved from ID Request.

definitely a beetle, but probably not a longhorn
to get a more specific ID you'll have to bring it to adult, no way around.
