What is it????? - Stenopelmatus

Unsure of what type of insect this is we have known it as a "mormon Ant" but we are sure that is not its proper name. Any help would be appreciated.

Moving to guide -
it's the only picture we have submitted from Washington State so I think it belongs in the guide for the data map. Nothing wrong with the image, either - I have just cropped it a little for more detail.
